Description

One of our clients is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team and help ensure the accuracy of employee paychecks each pay period. This is an in-office position with pay dependent upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing time, labor and payroll data
  • Maintains knowledge and compliance of federal, state and local payroll regulations
  • Responsible for preparation of certified payrolls
  • Prepares monthly union reporting and payments
  • Processes extra compensation payments, off-cycle check requests, pay adjustments and stop payments
  • Responsible for calculating, processing and reporting various employee payroll taxes and deductions including garnishments, union dues and benefits
  • Responsible for importing and exporting various files within multiple systems
  • Prepares, analyzes, and disperses various reports on a regular basis
  • Prepares monthly journal entries and account reconciliations and assists with audits
  • Completes required statistical reports for various agencies
  • Communicates with the human resource department and other departments to obtain data to facilitate the completion of time and labor information, retroactive payments and PTO and vacation payouts
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Serves as the point-of-service customer contact for employees by providing information and resolving issues associated with the processing of payroll data
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping payroll information confidential

Education

  • Associates degree or equivalent training and experience

Experience

  • 2-5 years experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Experience in ERP and HRIS platforms preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
  • Skilled at customer interaction with a people-first attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive Payroll/Accounting/HR Information
  • Adapt at multi-tasking and working under pressure within tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to support a team environment of shared work and shared success
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies
