CAD Design Drafter

AP Professionals has partnered with a manufacturing company in the Rochester, NY area that is looking to add a CAD Design Drafter to their growing operation. The CAD Design Drafter will design and draft both original equipment as well as aftermarket projects. Convert requirements to detailed specifications, and engineering BOM in an ERP system. The CAD Design Drafter will also utilize 2D AutoCAD. Proficiency in 3D modeling and drawing creation using SolidWorks and 2+ years of experience in 3D modeling required.

This position is a full-time, direct hire opening in the Rochester, NY area.

• Use 2D AutoCAD for maintenance of already existing products within the line.
• Generate 3D models with SolidWorks.
• Create 2D drawings of component level parts and sub-assemblies using 3D solid models.
• Generate engineering bills of materials and product structures within an ERP system.
• Use a Product Data Management System for control of engineering data.
• Apply shop fabrication methods (such as rolling, welding and machining operations) in the design creation.
• Create weld symbol and specify according to AWS standards.
• Work with fabrication departments before and during manufacturing phase of projects.
• Review pre-engineered product to minimize excessive design.
• Work in Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Understand drawing formats, numbering systems, submittals, and revisions.
• Complete Engineering Change Notices.

• A.S degree in a technical field with 5+ years of experience
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 1-3 years of experience

• Proficiency in 3D modeling and drawing creation using SolidWorks.
• 2+ years’ experience in 3D modeling required.
• Exposure to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes a plus
• Familiarity with instrumentation used in the chemical process industry a plus!
