Our client is a dynamic, team based, company with headquarters in Rochester, New York. This role has a fast track to CFO title, and reports directly to the CEO.  This position works closely with the main shareholders and will present to them monthly.  This position is an operational leadership position within the team and is considered a “go-to” role.  Working on the Finance team, this role will be an instrumental player in financial reporting, margin analysis, overall budget management, monthly reforecasts and year-end projections and mergers and acquisitions activity.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions
  • Coordinate and prepare monthly internal financial statements
  • Assess current accounting operations, implement improvements and new processes
  • Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff
  • Evaluate and oversee accounting and internal control systems and implement improvements as needed to protect the company’s financial assets
  • Oversee preparation and review of audited financial statements (issued by independent accounting firm)
  • Evaluate and oversee the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics
  • Manage annual budget process and rolling forecast updating
  • Perform financial analysis and modeling for acquisition
  • Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process
  • Oversee daily hedging requirements
  • Lead banking and financial relationships
  • Coordinate activities of external bank and financial auditors
  • Evaluate and manage financial risks to the company
  • Oversee sales tax regulatory requirements and filing
  • Oversee and monitor 401(k) reporting
  • Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to the Board of Directors
  • Participate in and provide support for key strategic growth initiatives including acquisitions, market and product research/expansion, including financial modeling

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or CMA or CFA preferred

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, with at least 2 years’ progressive managerial experience, overseeing the day-to-day management and long-term development of a team or direct reports
  • Manufacturing experience ideal

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of and ability to independently apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Analytical Skills:  Ability to interpret and present financial results for senior leadership
  • Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred, Python nice to have
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with all levels of management, the Board of Directors, staff, external bankers, auditors, tax accountants and insurance professionals
  • Process Improvement Mindset: Solution oriented problem solver; Highly motivated self-starter, with attention to detail, organization and accuracy
