AP has partnered with a global company with multiple locations across the US.  This company has a Rochester, NY location and is recruiting for a local Finance Controller position.  This role will manage the entire finance function of the $200M Business Unit, responsible for providing accurate information, support, and performance indicators to the site management team.  This role will help guide operation management; interpret data for operational effectiveness as well as interfacing between site functional leaders.

This position reports works within the matrixed finance team, interacts with internal auditors, project management teams and bid and proposal teams.  Externally this role interacts with external auditors, suppliers, customer purchasing groups and bankers.  This role reports to the plant General Manager as well as the Region Finance Director, overseeing a team of 25.  The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation of technical accounting and experience in large national matrixed organizations.  Additionally, this role is a business partner with process stakeholders, including legal, planning, logistics and customers.  Direct experience in project managing demands in a matrixed environment is required.

The ideal qualities for this role include adaptability, quick learning the job duties, relationships and industry knowledge.  Excellent communication skills and ability to grasp the breadth of the portfolio is key.


Financial Management and Controlling

  • Responsible for providing accurate transparent information, support and performance enablers to the site management team
  • Assist the Site Managing Director in all financial matters
  • Guidance
  • Interpretation of Data /Figures
  • Interface between site functions
  • Monitor and forecast financial indicators of the sites concerned
  • Set targets and control environment for the cost management within the sites in order to maximize performance
  • Monitor financial flows and validate the final reports
  • Control and validate the financial data provided by the site functions
  • Challenge and give insight for risks or variance analyses
  • Provide to business management financial support backed by consolidated data and analysis
  • Provide all necessary analysis and assistance to the central management control team
  • Work at actual, forecast and budget levels
  • Develop action plans in order to optimize performance and implement corrective actions
  • Follow restructuring and capacity extension plans if any
  • Validate site budget, 3 Year Plan, Rolling Forecast, Reporting

Reporting and Coordination

  • Set the environment to collect, consolidate, analyze and validate financial data in order to produce actual budget and forecasts, draw conclusions on variances of resource allocation and recommend corrective action
  • Validate the financial structure of the locations (processes and systems) in order to satisfy all internal and external requirements
  • Comply with the reporting definitions of company’s guidelines in order to provide consistent and informative management information and ensure compliance with Internal Control
  • Interface with regional controller and stakeholders from operations to report and cascade information


  • Coordinate the planning and budgeting scope, activities and schedule of the locations and set targets in order to produce reliable data, resource plans and budgets
  • Support the VP Finance Operations with ad-hoc analyses
  • Manage the site controlling team


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and at least 10 years experience required, Master’s degree preferred


  • External Audit, Site Controller experience
