Staff Accountant

AP Professionals has partnered with a company located in Victor that is looking for a Staff Accountant! This role is responsible for maintaining financial records and tracking the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and all other related financial activities.

• Support accounts receivable functions including processing of electronic payments and posting of cash receipts
• Routinely reconcile customer accounts to ensure payments are applied accordingly
• Assist in customer invoicing and collections of past due amounts
• Compile and issue customer rebates
• Support Accounts Payable activities with reconciliations of vendor accounts and resolving payment discrepancies
• Assist in compiling reports for external accountants including monthly sales tax data and audits
• Maintain general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
• Assist in month end closing

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required

• 1 to 2 years related working experience
• Experience in sorting, filtering, managing, and organizing large sets of data with Excel
• Advanced excel functions including lookups and pivot table

• Ability to analyze current processes to propose efficiencies through automation
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports
