Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting (Hybrid)

They are seeking an Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager to become an integral part of their Finance and Accounting team (newly created position).

In this role, the Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for providing accounting and finance services and lead processes in support of business objectives. The ideal candidate has the ability to multitask, pivot, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. This role will work closely with the Director of Finance to consistently deliver information for management through preparation and presentation of financial statements and analysis reports.

• Oversee and manage daily accounting operations (including accounts payable and receivable), creating scalable processes to ensure all financial information is properly captured, reconciled, and documented
• Manage and control the financial inventory function; preparation, analysis, and insight for inventory activity, balances and cost of goods sold
• Manage month-end and year-end close and timely generation of accurate financial statements; Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Provide regular financial reports to the Director of Finance by defining internal financial performance metrics and performing monthly variance analysis / analytical review of accounts vs. prior periods.
• Produce well organized, detailed documentation to support financial deliverables.
• Build and maintain financial reports in the Company’s financial reporting information system; Assists in the design, development and maintenance of automated financial reports and dashboards for internal management
• Create and implement accounting policies when necessary that fit our business ensuring tight controls across the organization
• Manage tax compliance and filings, including sales tax and state and federal income tax
• Adapt to a constantly changing environment and to evaluate current processes, make recommendations and implement viable solutions.
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Track expenses, budget, taxes, cash flow, receipts and other financial dealings of the company
• Work with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting required
• MBA and/ or CPA required

• 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience; operations finance and high growth e-commerce experience a plus
• Experience managing direct reports and leading a team with a dedication to driving and achieving results
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Proficient in Google Suite, Oracle NetSuite and QuickBooks
• Experience with Shopify a plus

• Current or prior experience at a consumer goods company with extensive inventory
• Ability to wear many hats and work across functions of the organization to create collaboration between accounting and the other functions
• Ability to notice risks to the business and articulate them to the CEO/necessary stakeholders
• Experience in preparing financial statements & tax return reports
• A self-starter who can work autonomously without much direction or oversight
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
