AP Professionals has partnered with an electronics manufacturer in search of a Purchasing Specialist. The Purchasing Specialist plays a key role in sourcing vendors, negotiating prices, maintaining relationships, and setting up and expediting deliveries. Applicants must be able to work individually and on a team, have the ability to understand the use of the products needed for purchase, and the ability to find solutions to discrepancies. Familiarity with ERP systems and the ability adapt to new systems is desired.

This is a full time, direct hire opportunity.

  • Source for vendors and compare based on prices and reliability
  • Work closely with other members of the purchasing team and sales teams to ensure receipt of materials
  • Maintain active communication with all involved parties to identify issues affecting delivery dates
  • Input accurate and detailed purchase order info into ERP systems
  • Works with multiple suppliers to process orders
  • Monitor and expedite orders as required
  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtains recommendations from suppliers for substitute items and obtains approval from requisitioning department
  • Ensure proper receipt of items and compare to the purchase order
  • Communicate with suppliers on orders, order confirmation, shipping, and delivery instructions, or order discrepancies
  • Confers with vendors to negotiate product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Oversee bulk inventories and reorder as necessary
  • Review incoming requisitions and verify against current and on order inventory levels, clarifying unclear items, recommending alternatives, or existing inventory on hand


  • An Associate’s degree or related experience is desired


  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing or a similar role
  • Proven experience negotiating with vendors/suppliers

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of ERP systems and ability to learn new systems
