Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a manufacturer looking to add a Quality Engineer to their growing team. This is a newly created position due to growth. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for designing quality standards and testing processes against criteria. Injection molding and a background in plastics desired. Automotive manufacturing a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all quality related processes are detailed and completed for new and existing products including programming CMM, setting up control plans, assisting in the PPAP and APQP processes and documentation, and monitoring and evaluating processes.
  • Establish measuring/control plans that will detect potential failures and assist in exceeding customer requirements
  • Maintain calibration on measurement equipment
  • Prepare reports describing studies, testing and other quality related duties
  • Perform and document layouts and other dimensional reports per customer requirements
  • Respond regarding compliance with the timing of measurements and testing’s activities in the validation or modification phase of the production process
  • Respond to customer concerns regarding product quality, audits or related inquiries
  • Monitor for corrective action as needed
  • Coordinates CAPA’s (Corrective And Preventative Action) for product
  • Ensure that the sites QEMS is being implemented and managed properly
  • Performs the verification activities of the product's adequacy to customer requirements during the validation or modification phase of the production process
  • Prepares instructions for measuring / testing new products
  • Manages and stores the documentation of its competence in an orderly manner
  • See CAPA and problem solving responsibilities for corrective, preventative and continuous improvement activities

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate engineering field.

Experience

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and concepts.
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic injection molding.
  • 5+ years’ proven experience in metrology duties in a Plastic Injection Molding environment including the use of precision measuring instruments such as CMM, optical comparators, high stands, coordinate measuring machines, micrometers, calipers and dial indicators
  • Experience in Quality Systems (ISO/QS 9000), and Quality Methods (FMEA/CPK/CP/SPC/ PPAP/ MSA/ APQP)
  • 2+ years’ proven experience in assembling / post molding activities, Automotive/ Healthcare, and measuring & test Equipment
  • 10+ years’ related experience (automotive manufacturing is preferred but not required).
