AP Professionals has partnered with a Rochester-based legal service company that is looking for a Senior Accountant. The Sr. Accountant, who reports to the Controller, will prepare journal entries, reconcile financial statement and accounts and ensure financial data accuracy. The Sr Accountant must be knowledgeable of accounting and US GAAP rules, and generally knowledgeable of tax principles. Interested? Apply today!

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries relating to cash, accounts payable, accruals, payroll and a variety of other information ensuring that data is accurate.
  • Ensure vendor W9’s are obtained when required and prepares Letters of Authorization for funding for payroll and other expenses
  • Monitor the banks to make sure the bank transfers are completed on a timely basis for funding for joint ventures and general banking activity for accuracy and reconciles accounts.
  • Pulls together the billings on a monthly basis, works with Office Manager to confirm all back up is obtained and properly supports the billings.
  • Review financial reports for completeness and accuracy; identify any accounting errors or irregularities
  • Reconcile accounts with the general ledger. Ensure that all entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with US GAAP.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree; CPA a plus

Experience

  • 5+  years private or public accounting experience
  • Experience with internal controls over financial reporting
  • Experience with Quickbooks or other accounting systems preferred
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint also required
