Senior Accounting Manager

We have partnered with a local company in search of a Senior Accounting Manager. The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for general accounting functions including the monthly close and financial reporting for the organization. This position will directly supervise entry level staff and senior accounting staff.

• Lead the month-end close process ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Manage the close calendar and the related internal and cross-functional communications
• Assist with external and regulatory audits
• Review and post monthly journal entries prepared by accounting staff for accuracy and accounting classifications
• Review of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
• Accurately prepare monthly financial statements and supporting documentation
• Oversee and maintain department specific software
• Support business and department goals and initiatives as needed
• Participate in hiring, training and development of departmental staff in a manner necessary to achieve departmental goals and objectives
• Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls, accounting policies and procedures to ensure the proper accounting methods and systems
• Manage the preparation and submission of agency tax filings
• Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management
• CPA license is required

• Five plus years of accounting experience, preferably with some experience in the not-for-profit environment
• Prior supervisory experience

• Excellent organizational skills
