AP has recently partnered with a well-known, Rochester-based custom bulk packaging and shipping company that is looking for an Operations Cost Account. This position combines the elements of a Cost Accountant and an Accounting Analyst. This person will prepare, analyze and report financial information in order to support the strategic objectives of the Company. They would also provide management with detailed reports for use in making business decisions and controlling expenditures.  They would also provide financial analysis to evaluate special projects, programs, and product costing.  Interested? Responsibilities

  • Assistance in creating, tracking, monitoring and reporting on the annual Operation cost budget.
  • Work with Operations team to explain budget variance and help identify corrective action to mitigate adverse impact.
  • Provide management and various departments with detailed reports for use in making business decisions and controlling expenses.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Analyze manufacturing expenses and prepare reports detailing actual production costs.
  • Investigate proposed design and process changes and new product concepts.
  • Responsible for operational variance analysis, usage variances, absorption and volume variances compared to budget with relevant and concise explanations.
  • Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, as well as forecasting.
  • Support the Operations group annual budget and planning cycles.
  • Support and educate personnel throughout the organization on financial principles relevant to their functions to ensure integrity of costs and accuracy of information.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical role.
  • 3-6 years of experience in working in a manufacturing environment with cost accounting, reporting and cross team collaboration.
  • NetSuite Experience preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of financial and cost accounting.
  • Experience and proficiency in Excel and other MS Office products

  • Strong technical accounting skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of GAAP standards, codes and concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills, plus excellent organizational and presentation skills, are required.
  • Exercise discretion and maintain confidential information.
