AP Professionals has partnered with a non-profit seeking a Senior Network and Security Administrator to join their collaborative and engaging team. The Senior Network and Security Administrator will serve as the dedicated person for focusing on network troubleshooting, the in-house virtual server environment, firewalls, access points, switches/routers, and more. The Senior Network and Security Administrator will also assist with the cloud hosted platforms for the company’s other locations. This is a direct hire, full-time opportunity with a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must be local to Rochester, New York in order to accommodate in-office work as well as local travel.

  • Support a Microsoft AD environment including GPO’s, DNS, DHCP, account creations, and more
  • Administer a hyper-v server environment
  • Serve as the expert and main point of contact with the MSSP to maintain and support VLAN, WLAN, and network security zones
  • Review, configure, and troubleshoot SEIM SOC and Managed Risk solution
  • Assist with managing and mentoring support staff
  • Troubleshoot VoIP and analog/digital telephone system issues
  • Establish VPN, LAN, WAN and DMZ specifications by working with users. Analyze workflow, access, information, and security requirements. Design router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Continually improve the network by monitoring and evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput and latency. Plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment. Define network policies and procedures and establish connections and firewalls
  • Maintain best practices for security. Follow requirements of PCI and HIPAA compliance and serves as the organization’s Security Officer
  • Secure the networks by developing and implementing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation systems. Maintain documentation
  • Configure, manage, deploy, and review Security Awareness platform and modules
  • Oversee Firewall management and Infrastructure management
  • Collaborate with MSPs and other IT department members to resolve issues


  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in computer science or related field


  • 5+ years of related professional experience in a similar role
  • Preferred experience with design of high availability, disaster recovery and backup methods

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Holds excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure and virtual environments
  • Ability to work on-call hours as assigned
