Description

Our client, a growing public company headquartered in Rochester, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to  lead the in-house tax functions for the business.  This includes tax planning, regulatory compliance, and providing tax guidance related to business strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for knowing tax laws and requirements, remaining current with regards to changes in the tax code, and communicating with management on regulations that impact the business.
  • Prepare tax returns-(federal, state, local), including collecting the proper financial information and data required and analyzing for accuracy.
  • Lead the audit process and act as the key point of contact for the agencies performing the audits.
  • Calculate the tax calculations /estimates / provision and reconcile tax liability accounts.
  • Perform tax research to support various business activities, including acquisitions, tax credit opportunities, and other tax strategies.

Education

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree and a valid CPA license. A master's degree in tax is preferred.

Experience

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with corporate tax returns.  The tax manager will be an expert in taxation and have the technical experience to be successful with the expectations of the role.

  • Advanced organization skills. Particular with managing deadlines and workflow.
  • Strong abilities working in accounting software.  Must be able to know how to navigate within the software to get to the right information.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality with regards to all sensitive business information.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to notice anomalies, etc.
  • Has a customer service approach.
